Fit & Sustainable: Stylish Workout Wear to Get Sweaty About

Since lockdown I’ve been getting more and more into home workouts - the original and the best is and will forever be the Cindy Crawford workout.

As the sweat builds I find myself sourcing workout gear that has an impetuous on sustainability.

I was delighted to see the launch of Nike’s new Air Vapormax 2020 Flyknit, made with 50% recycled materials as well as the Adidas X Parley Primeblue collection also made from recycled polyester and and plastic bottles.

It’s so important these days to be a conscious shopper, especially when it comes to fashion and particularly workout wear.

Previously to the surge in sustainable fashion, many of the textiles used for gym gear was made of unnatural fibres such as polyester and nylon. These require a huge amount of energy to produce and when the finished product is in our hands washing them lets these plastic fibres to end up in our waterways.

It’s great to see bigger brands such as Nike and Adidas taking the initiative to work sustainability into their collections and to raise awareness of the issue we’re faced with.

Here’s a list of some eco workout wear brands worth investing in:
- Girlfriend Collective
- Indigo Luna
- Nube
- Mandala
- Miakoda
- Organic Basics
- Pact
- Pangaia
- People Tree
- Wolven Threads
